79.6% of Wilkes County residents old enough to vote in 2021

Of the 66,335 citizens living in Wilkes County in 2021, 79.6% were old enough to vote, equating to 52,793 individuals, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26.

Further breakdown reveals that of the voting-eligible population, 26,016 were male, constituting 49.3%, and 26,777 were female, making up 50.7%.

The percentage of citizens old enough to vote in Wilkes County during 2021 was higher than the state average, which stands at 77.8%.
