Census Bureau: 78.6% of people in Surry County were old enough to vote in 2021

Of the 71,439 citizens living in Surry County in 2021, 78.6% were old enough to vote, equating to 56,168 individuals, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26.

Further breakdown reveals that of the voting-eligible population, 27,256 were male, constituting 48.5%, and 28,912 were female, making up 51.5%.

The percentage of citizens old enough to vote in Surry County during 2021 was higher than the state average, which stands at 77.8%.
