JOB OPPORTUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT

The City of Mount Airy is accepting applications for the full time position of Athletics Program Supervisor, located at Mount Airy Parks and Recreation/Reeves Community Center.  

ATHLETICS PROGRAM SUPERVISOR

Responsibilities:  An employee in this class plans, schedules, supervises, monitors, and participates in adult and youth athletic program activities, and outdoor summer program activities; or after school and indoor summer youth program activities at the appropriate municipal recreation facilities or other appropriate locations.  This person works with appropriate officials and individuals to determine programming needs and desires of citizen clientele.  This person assists other Recreation Program Supervisors in their program activities as needed and feasible.  This employee must have thorough knowledge of the contemporary principles and practices of local government recreation programming.  This person must also have thorough knowledge of safety issues involving their area of responsibility and the preventive measures to take for prevention of accidents.  This person must have knowledge of relevant accident treatment in their specific area of responsibility, including First Aid, CPR, AED, etc. This person must have the ability to plan, schedule, supervise, monitor, and participate in a variety of recreation activities.  This person must have the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, orally and in writing.  They must also have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clientele, fellow employees, representatives of relevant governmental and non-governmental organizations, and members of the general public. 

Education:  Considerable experience in one of the above mentioned recreation areas and graduation from a community college in the appropriate discipline (preferred), supplemented by graduation from a four year college or university with a degree in recreation administration (preferred) or other relevant discipline, preferably supplemented by relevant continuing education activities.

* CDL Licenses (preferred)

* Officiating Certifications (preferred)
