That's right, the FIRST sea turtle nest reported on the N.C. coast this year is at our very own Fort Fisher State Recreation Area!
Remember to help protect turtle nests by staying away from them, turning lights off at night, and fill in any holes you make on the beach before you leave so the hatchlings can make it to the water unimpeded!
IT'S OFFICIAL!! #fortfisherstaterecreationarea reported the first sea turtle nest in NC on May 4, 2022.
Conservation reminder:
-lights off the beach at night
-fill in holes in the sand when you leave
-if fishing, properly dispose of fishing lines
-pick up your trash when you leave - PACK IT IN PACK IT OUT
-do not disturb the nest
