North Wilkes High School issued the following announcement on February 14.
Students in the CCP Welding classes are getting ready for 2022 Skills USA Region 7 Conference and Career Showcase Competition which will be held at Wilkes Community College on Monday, February 28th.
The welding students were divided into two teams on Wednesday and Thursday with each team working on a specific project. This year’s theme of the welding competition is to create a product used in welding shops. Lane W., Samuel R., and Braylyn H. are constructing a kindling splitter and Giorgia S., Alex B., and Elijah L. are building a sawhorse.
On Monday, North’s teams will present and showcase their finished products in front of judges along with videos of their process. Their products will be judged on the presentation, accuracy, drawings, and if it is representative of the required welds.
The welding students would like to extend a special thanks to the journalism students who came and documented their project work filming videos and taking photos to use for their presentation.
Team work makes the dream work.
