Town of Wilkesboro issued the following announcement on January 4.

Our community garden is maintained through the active participation of the gardeners themselves. Fresh gardens allow our citizens to grow their own food which provides fresh produce and plants into their everyday lives for healthier living. Other benefits are satisfying labor, self-reliance, connection to the environment, the opportunity for multigeneration and cross-cultural connections, neighborhood improvement, and a sense of community.

The gardener leases a garden plot each season which may or may not be the same from year to year. Handicap raised beds have been added as well. Cub Creek Community Garden’s goal is to be a place that invites neighbors, friends, and families to communicate and relate through a shared experience.
