Surry County issued the following announcement on August 25.
(Dobson, N.C.) – Golfers in Surry County have another reason to hit the links, this time for a good cause. The 9th Annual Garry Scearce Memorial Golf Tournament will raise money for Special Olympics Surry County. The event will be held Thursday, Sept. 23 at Cedarbrook Country Club near Elkin.
The entry fee starts at $300 for a four-player team. For $400, a four-player team can enter, sponsor a hole sign, get four raffle tickets and four mulligans. Lunch is included with the price. Businesses are invited to sponsor a hole starting at $100.
Teams can choose between the morning round starting at 8 a.m. or afternoon round starting at 1 p.m.
Prizes include: Hole-in-one, closest-to-pin, door prizes, raffle prizes and others. A silent auction will also be held.
Proceeds support Special Olympics’ efforts in Surry County, including: Annual spring games, seven year-round sports programs, uniforms, sports equipment, special events, social events and travel accommodations for sports invitationals, summer games and a fall tournament.
