North Surry High recently issued the following announcement.

Good Evening Greyhounds,

This is Heath Foster, AP at NSHS, with a quick message regarding upcoming dual-enrollment courses at Surry Community College.  If you are receiving this message, it means that your learner is scheduled to take one or more courses this fall through our Career & College Promise program.

Your student has been emailed a detailed list of items to go over prior to SCC classes starting on August 16th; however, I'm going to quickly touch on the highlights of that email.

Although school starts at North Surry on August 23rd, SCC begins its courses on August 16th.  Students need to log into KnightLife to review their schedule and see what time courses meet.  Courses offered can be F2F, online, or a hybrid combination of both.  Details on logging into KnightLife have been mailed home by SCC.  If a student has difficulty logging in, a contact number has been listed within the email I sent them earlier that they can use for SCC's help desk.

Textbooks have been ordered and will be delivered later this week.  As such, textbook pickup will begin on Monday, August 9th and run through that entire week.  Students can stop by between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. to grab materials for those courses that require them.  The email sent home to students outlines what courses have books that need to be picked up.  Students will sign out materials and be responsible for returning them upon course completion in December.  Students who do not return materials will be responsible for paying for them.

There are also CCP Remind groups that both students and parents/guardians can join.  Details on how to join are in the email home to students.

Finally, students and a parent/guardian will be required to sign a dual enrollment contract for SCC courses that we will keep on file at North Surry.  These will be made available to students who stop by this week and to everyone else on the first day of class at NSHS.  We will have our school counselors available this week on two (2) days for juniors/seniors to stop by if they'd like to ask any questions about their schedule and/or planning ahead for this year.

Tuesday, August 3rd from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. (SENIORS)

Wednesday, August 4th from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. (JUNIORS)

I hope you have all had a restful summer and we look forward to seeing you here in a few short weeks.  Have a great evening!
