The Yadkin County COVID-19 Response Advisory Team of the Clemmons Community Foundation said has awarded grants from a fund created to help community members struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The foundation has so far awarded three $500 grants to organizations that provide services to residents in need, The Yadkin Ripple reported in late April.

Yadkin Christian Ministry will use its grant money to purchase foods that have longer shelf lives such as canned fruits and vegetables. The ministry will distribute the items to local food pantries, which have seen an increase in demand, Director Beth Steelman told the publication.

Grant recipient Yadkin County Schools will purchase food and other supplies for families participating in the food delivery programs, district Superintendent Todd Martin, told the publication.

Hands of Hope Medical Clinic is planning to use the grant to purchase medications that are needed, Executive Director Marty Driver told the publication.

The grant program was created to help different organizations that are offering services of need and relief to the residents of Yadkin County, the publication reported.
