City of Mount Airy officials have announced changes to the sanitation schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday. City offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27 and Friday, November 28, 2025.

According to the announcement, there will be no residential garbage collection on Thursday or Friday of that week. The regular Wednesday, November 26 routes will be collected as scheduled. However, Thursday routes will also be collected on Wednesday, November 26.

The Friday route is rescheduled to Monday, December 1. On that day, there will not be any yard waste collection. Commercial garbage collection is also suspended on both Thursday and Friday during the holiday period. Industrial roll-off routes normally scheduled for Thursday and Friday will instead be collected on Wednesday, November 26.

Residents are encouraged to note these changes and plan accordingly.
