The City of Mount Airy announced on Mar. 27 that all city offices will be closed on Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday.

This closure affects regular municipal operations and requires adjustments to the city’s sanitation collection schedule. The change is important for residents and businesses who rely on city services to ensure that waste is collected without interruption during the holiday period.

According to the announcement, all trash routes typically scheduled for Friday will instead be collected a day earlier. This includes residential, commercial, and industrial roll-off routes, as well as cardboard stops along Main Street. All affected collections will take place on Thursday, April 2.

Residents and business owners are advised to have their waste ready for pickup by Thursday morning to avoid missed collections due to the holiday schedule adjustment.

These changes are part of routine procedures implemented by the city during public holidays to maintain service continuity while allowing employees time off.
